I promise it really does look a lot more complicated than it is! Overlay mosaic crochet basically uses only 1 colour per row. You crochet each row on the ‘right’ side and cut the yarn after each row.
You change colours every row and the pattern is created because you make your double crochet (US terms) ‘over’ the previous row, in the previous row of the same colour.
The only stitches to be used are chains, single crochet, single crochet in the back loop, and double crochet in the front loop of the stitch two rows below. (all US terms)
If you know these basic stitches, and can count, you can crochet mosaic!

There are several ways, but I always work with Excel/Google Spreadsheets for my patterns. It is not an automated process. I don’t have a programme that I can upload a picture into so that a pattern rolls out.
I get this question at least once a week, and unfortunately the answer is almost always no. Making a pattern is not something I do automatically. Each x in the chart I put in there manually. Therefore, creating a realistic pattern is not something I can do in an hour, or a day. This whole process takes weeks. And then it has to be tested. And corrected. If I made all the requests I get, I would never sleep again and still not get everything finished. It’s really not because I don’t want to, but unfortunately it just isn’t possible.
I currently have a great tester team, but of course it occasionally happens that someone no longer has time for this, or for whatever reason does not want to continue as a tester. It doesn’t happen very often, but spots do occasionally open up. Do you want to become a tester? Then please send me a message via the contact form. Note. To be a tester, you need to crochet a few blankets a year, not be afraid to speak your mind, work meticulously, stick to deadlines and be able to take good photos. It helps if you can show examples of your work on Instagram or Facebook, for example.
Absolutely! I would love it if you mention that the pattern comes from me, but I just think it’s nice that you also earn something from your hobby. Or at least cover the costs of it. What is not allowed is to sell or disclose the pattern itself (or parts of it). This is prohibited at all times. Even if you make posts on Facebook or Instagram, it is important to shield the pattern and not leave parts of it in the picture of your post.
